McCain lost this debate big time. All he did is berate Obama, and talk down to him. I am just as confused now with what McCain wants as I was before the debate. He need to retire to his nursing home.
Both made some good points, but unfortunately most of McCain’s points seemed to be false, lies! It is the Media’s job to point out the lies and unfortunately most media news groups don’t. So the uninformed voter,(most of America) that does not follow politics as closely as they should does not know that McCain is lying, and full of BullSh..(BS).
False statements/ Lies by McCain:
McCain has been key in the 700 billion econimic relief tax, but really went to Congress on Thursday and didn’t even read the 2-3 page bill proposal and had no input that made sense! Also on this bill- he stated that it needs reuglation and oversight, but he and his opponents to the bill on Thursday stated taht they can’t accept a bill that will have regulation in it, having more gov’t apart of the process. When it is clear that the republican deregulation of agencies and oversight is what got us in this mess.
He has been for war veterans, but voted against most things to help them including the latest GI bill this past year.
The list of Lies goes on and on. The media must bring the facts to the public and call out the lies. They just don’t. The worst is when they bring on a politician or video conference and the politician just goes off on tangents and lies, but the interviewer never states afterwards that those statements are not true.
Obama’s Strong Points- made clear that McCain was wrong on going to Iraq, quick war, being known as liberators(showed poor decision making by McCain). The cost of the war – finacially we have gone into major national debt, terrorists have spread and the real fight needs to be in Afghanistan and Pakistan, lost of many americans lives by going into a country that had little to do with 9/11. Got the truth out about his tax plan- will only raise taxes for those making more than $250,000, where McCain wants to give tax breaks to the rich- oil companies, big business. Finally- Obama stated consistantly that McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time on all these poor policies that have caused many of the problems in America. Voting for McCain will be more of the same!
Oh come on! When are you liberals gonna wake up and see the light! McCain is far more knowledgable than Obama in 90% of the areas addressed in the debate! He is far more experienced to run a nation! How can you say McCain will be more of the same (meaning like Bush) when he consistently opposes areas that Bush has favored. Wake up!!!
The polling was done mostly of democrats, in particular the one of 524 persons telephoned that CNN and UPI are reporting. This is not journalism, but favoritism as all the media is interested in is getting their boy elected and not in the truth. Obama is not qualified for the job, changes his stance like the wind and based on what polls say or what he thinks people want to hear, and is withholding much vital background information about himself. He is quite frankly scary and his ultraliberal, socialistic vision for this country will put us in ruin not to mention the risk that we will be under when our enemies realize who we have in the White House. Our enemies are praying that he gets elected (read the foreign press)
I’m a McCain supporter (even though he’s not really conservative enough for me) – really I am – and I’m voting McCain-Palin. I don’t like Obama’s policies and his liberal bent especially given that we’ll most likely have a Democrat controlled congress. But I have to say that Obama more than held his own in that debate. If I were undecided, I’d have been swayed toward Obama, not McCain. Obama appeared to be more confident and connected with the viewers far better than McCain. I’m sorry but it’s true.
I felt McCain’s answers were predictable and he did little to cast vision for the future of America. At times, I felt he was condesending toward Obama and relied too heavily on his experience. I mean, McCain’s experience is great but I do want him to tell me what he’s planning to do in the future.
When I watched the conservative commentators after the debate I wondered if we were watching the same exchange! I hate to admit it but I was disappointed with McCain’s performance and lack of charisma. I agree far more with McCain’s positions and consider myself to be a very informed voter. However, many (most?) Americans are not information junkies like me and will rely heavily on the debates to solidify their decision. As a cadidate you have to be able to positively sell yourself and your ideas. I think McCain fell short.
McCain never disputed Obama’s contention that McCain’s tax cuts would continue to benefit corporations and the top 1% of Americans. How can anyone who works for a living support McCain?
McCain is out of touch with 21st century events. He wants to thumb his nose at rogue nations and threaten them. That only pushes them into developing nuclear arms (see North Korea and Iran). McCain’s ideas are relics from the past. As Obama says, “We have to be smarter about our solutions” in this dangerous world. Obama clearly is the better choice to improve our economy and to deal with world conflicts. McCain is a hothead and irratic (see this week’s actions).
Jan thanks for some good input! Duane- glad to see that there are some Republicans that are open minded, but if u look at the info, the facts, they are usually on Obama’s side! The policies we have in now are due to Bush and the Republicans that have controlled Congress for six years til the last election in 06! It is a fact that McCain voted for 90% of Bush’s policies, many of them were flawed- hence why Obama didn’t vote for them and is considered the most liberal.
Mike and Johann- U say that Obama is not qualified, and i have to understand your view on that because he is new to politics! But i am terrified about VP Palin and her views and inexperience. She is govenor, but it is Alaska, one of the smallest state polulations. Do u realize that McCain has had cancer a number of times, and really got to be concerner about his health. At any time, cancer can come back, he goes to the hospital and Palin is in charge of America. That is a very scary thought to me. She has done a couple of interviews over the last week or so and has just looked incompetent on many issues.
Obama is new to politics, but is knowledgeable and has a very experienced and knowledgeable VP in Biden that will be heavily involved like Chainey was/is with Bush. Also Obama will surround himself with multiple view points on all issues and is able to acknowlege when someone is correct; agreeing with someone like he did with many points last night with McCain.
